After 500 miles or so on a fresh head gasket job the head bolt torque should be rechecked. I respectfully disagree that an engine can’t be properly rebuilt by someone and have it last as long as a factory new one; if it’s done right. Webb5 maj 2024 · Once the rocker cover is off, remove one of the round black seals that cover the cylinder head bolts and check if your 12mm socket fits (diameter < 19.5mm). Mine was way too thick (I only have 1/2” drive sockets) so I ordered a 10 & 12mm 3/4 drive long, 6 point socket (6 point sockets are less likely to round bolts).
